"A reconnect day requires just being in your own energy. Like going to a silent meditation retreat. Only you don't have to go anywhere."
I love creating these days in my life when I feel that my mind is going crazy or if I am just feeling off. A reconnect day is great because they allow you to break your normal routine and give you space to be in your own energy. It feels like a reset and upgrade for yourself.
A reconnect day requires just being in your own energy. Like going to a silent meditation retreat. Only you don't have to go anywhere.
That means;
no phone
no TV
no music
no email
no computer.
Just you and your journal.
You can go for walks in nature, if you feel called to, but no distractions like music or podcasts. You are also free to sleep during the day as often as you want as well as meditate but in silence. It is ideal to pick a day and spend it alone, away from anyone else and free of any obligations. Some people may even pick a location away from their home and may even prep meals to do this. This way you can just be in your own energy and you can become familiar with you after you have cleared everyone else. Making sure you are alone is important because it allows you to just be with you and your thoughts, free of any distractions.
My Reconnect Day:
My day began with me sleeping in for as long as I needed to, so I could get out of bed feeling rested. I meditated and released any tension in my body with breathwork. I then got up and went for a walk. When I came back I made myself a drink and journaled. It felt so good and I was feeling very energized and joyful. I then started getting inspired actions to take. I wrote them down for things to do in the future, which my mind didn't really like. I then journaled some more while sitting on the porch in the sun. I then made myself breakfast and sat for a bit soaking up the sunlight. Being free from my usual routine was very liberating to me. Although, I love all the things I do in the morning, there is something about the way I felt without my routine that fills my cup. This makes me think I need to audit my morning routine and shift things around. I began feeling tired so I listened to my body and took a nap. I laid in my bed until I felt called to get up. I then made lunch a toasted tomato sandwich on gluten free bread. It was a beautiful day out, so I decided to go for another walk and then I came back and journaled some more about questions that came up during my walk. By the afternoon, I was beginning to feel that sense of my mind kicking in and wanting me to do something, "the I am bored" feeling. I had the energy and urge to take an action, it was like and itch that you couldn't scratch. But I held in there, I decided to just free write in my journal everything I was thinking and feeling and time passed. It was soon time to make dinner and I went to bed early that night.
I highly encourage everyone to take a day or half day, to reconnect with themselves and see what transpires. I always find it therapeutic to be in my own energy and away from any distractions even if it is a short time. For someone doing it the first time, it may be uncomfortable. Be kind to yourself, witness your mind and find ways that feel good for your to release the discomfort.
