Recent Thoughts About My Closet

Over the years I have been slowly going through my wardrobe and eliminating things that no longer feel or look good. I have got amazing at releasing items and editing all my belongings. But I have noticed over this past year a mindset shift when adding new garments to my wardrobe.

I am a tiny person and I use to be so fixated on buying only small or x small pieces from all stores. I know this may should strange but I would also only buy certain pant sizes instead of trying things on and seeing how they fit and buying what looked good and felt good on. I didn't realize how I was so fixated on the size versus the actual fit and how the garment looked on me. I was approaching my closet all wrong. I noticed this mindset block when I started following a fashion blogger Kate Hutchins. She is tiny and she would style outfits and buy items in a variety of sizes and I could see how they would fit her and look good on her. She wasn't fixated on buying certain sizes she was buying clothing for the look and best fit for her. I realized she was buying the clothing size that worked for her body.

I have also become interested in buying clothing that work with my skin tone and cuts that work well with my body type.I know this may sound like a lot of work as you will need to try on a lot of items in the beginning until you really learn what works well for your body type. The good thing is I don't buy clothing that often. Also, can we have an inner child moment of playing dress up in our closet for a day trying on and create different outfits.

Bring fun back into daily life. We often get so busy with our lives that we miss out on little joys like playing in our closets.
