I recently went to San Diego for an event. It was a quick in and out trip. I stayed close to the Little Italy area. The city was safe, clean and easy to get around by foot.
The Hotel I stayed at was The Westgate Hotel. Which I highly recommend this hotel. I wanted a place with a pool, so I could lay in the sun since it was a snow storm back home. The rooms were beautiful and large. If you are wanting more of a modern hotel, the other hotel I was looking at was The Guild. A lot of people that attended the event I went to stayed atThe Guild and enjoyed it. The Guild is a couple blocks closer to the ocean, so a shorter walk if you are getting around by foot.
Day 1: I went to Village Cafe for a yummy coffee, ginger shot (which I recommend after flying) and the best Acai Bowl (ask for a little less honey if you want it less sweet). Then I headed to Balboa Park, which I am usually not big on parks but this park surprised me. The beautiful old buildings and all the different trees. I fell in love. The offer sound healing in the Japanese garden. This is a great place for a picnic or a morning walk. I highly recommend. After the park I headed to the waterfront. I walked along the marina and around Sea Port Village. I then spend the rest of the day at the event.
Day 2: I woke up early went for a sauna and steam and did a short Melissa Wood Health workout before getting ready for my day. I spend the day at the event. I then put on some warm clothes and headed to a cafe to read. The cafe was called Portal Cafe. I had a delicious rose latte with coconut milk. I then wandered back to Sea Port Village for dinner. I was in the mood for Mexican. I went to Puesto At The Headquarters, where I had a virgin guava margarita and the chicken flautas. I then went back to my hotel room and warmed up with a nice hot shower and crawled into bed and watched a movie.
Day 3: My flight wasn't until late that night and I was going to be flying back to Canada overnight so I wanted to stay in my room resting for as long as I could. I went for an early sauna and steam and then rested in my room until checkout. I stored my luggage with the bell man and headed for breakfast/lunch. I wanted to explore Little Italy area a bit more. It was full of so many restaurants it could be a bit overwhelming or exciting for a foodie. I was recommended a cafe Parakeet Cafe. This is a very busy cafe and super cute. I ordered an acai bowl and a cold brew. It was sunny outside, so I decided to sit outside and soak up the warmth from the sun. Not realizing that it was still pretty cold outside and I just ordered 2 cold items to eat outside in the cold. I then walked around little Italy a bit more before heading back to the hotel to lay by the pool and read.
I lounged in the sun until it was close to my flight time. I then headed to the airport and back to Canada.
